Playing with dolls

Seeking inspiration for my summer art project - we need to bring it in on the first day of the Foundation Year - I collected natural material from our little corner of Nova Scotia. Play is so often the best way to bring on the muses, so I just fiddled around with some of the bits and pieces I had collected, along with the beautiful wool I've been using for the afghan. These little totems took shape in a few sessions over the course of a week. Who appeals to you?

The Joy of Summer Reading

They're nearly at an end, these long, lazy days in which reading feels not only valid, but positively encouraged. I've used the library, Book Mooch, as well as the occasional book store. I've read classics, books from the list (updated at original post), graphic novels, thrillers and modern 'chick lit'. Some highlights:

  • Brother Odd by Dean Koontz (Just realised it was Odd Thomas I read, but still...)
  • Anna Karenina by Leo Tolstoy
  • Chronicles, volume one by Bob Dylan

What have you been reading this summer?

Artist books website

Yay, I've done it! My new website is up at everydayjoy.co.uk. As I am starting to sell my books, and have a fair in October, it seemed wise to have some space as a showcase (bookcase?).

It's a little bare at the moment as I've only loaded one book, but I hope to add at least one a day for the next week. Feel free to go and have a look around. Comments and suggestions are very welcome - you can use:
