Jeff Healey: A loss to music, Canada and the world

Jeff Healey passed away on 2 March, 2008, aged just 41. He lost his eyesight to cancer as a baby and has lost his life to it now. I just found out today. I've loved him since I was sixteen. He was such an amazing musician and an amazing human being. He has been blind since he was less than a year, and learned to play the guitar at three. He had a passion for jazz and blues and was keeping some of the old classics alive. He was widely respected by many musicians and got to play with Stevie Rae Vaughan and George Harrison among others. He leaves behind a wife, and two children, which is always a tragedy. Read more here or search youtube for some of his music and an assortment of tributes - good, heartfelt and some just bizarre.

PhotoHunt 99: Party

I have been a terrible hunter of late, although I love browsing everyone's contributions. Here is the best party that I have been to this year, London's Chinese New Year celebrations welcoming the Year of the Rat.

GPP Crusade No.18 - Cut it out

Gpp18_2
The mission at Green Pepper Press Street Team this month is to 'cut it out' click on the pic above to check it out. Making your own images to use in your art work can be scary, but so exhilarating, so world-widening. I cut my first rubber stamps last year before Artfest. I'll add images of those later. I cut some more last term in my artist book class. I like using erasers, stamp material or lino. I started just with a v-tool and added a wider v and two u-tools when I got a good price for them. For the crusade, I offer you a pair of lino-cuts, portraits of Z and I.
