89 Soul Trees

I think these come from deep inside me, when I am drawing them I don't really make any choices, they just flow out you know? This is how they began...

I was in Carla Sonheim's Voice Lessons workshop at Artfest. The idea behind her class is basically that with so much sensory input from magazines, tv, other artists, craft stores, etc combined with our own inner editor, our own creative voice can get lost in the crowd. In case you are still in any doubt, this has nothing to do with singing!

This one was a contribution to the 1000 Journals project in journal #121. Woohoo!

I haven't been updating this as much as I would like. I was surprised that even with my laptop and wireless internet access in the hotel I rarely checked my emails or updated. Just nice to get away from it all I suppose.

Got back on Sunday afternoon. The jetlag hit us pretty badly, but not in the way I would expect. I thought we would want to sleep from 4pm until midnight, the rough equivalent of a night's sleep in Seattle. But no, we wake up between 4am and 6am, want to sleep mid-morning and collapse into bed at around 9pm.

Managed to get some of my photos uploaded to Flickr and my Lomohome.

K was back at work on Tuesday, and on Wednesday I started 3 days nannying work. That was fun, but exhausting (slept from 7.30 Thursday night until 6.30 Friday morning!). This is the amazing shelter we built on the common this afternoon. It took hours to build and comfortably fit me and the three boys (11, 9 and 8). The youngest and I collected branches and the two eldest designed and built it.
